Voyeur Scandal in Belgium

Post by pontifex13 »

Hey SSL friends,

A few days ago, a voyeur scandal broke out in the city of Ghent in Belgium. Apparently a 41 year old guy recorded movie clips from women showering and changing clothes in a sport club. He posted his material regularly on a public voyeur forum which is very popular in The Netherlands and which was hosted in the U.S.

Now this guy posted images and videos off course, but a law recently passed in Belgium (in 2016) which makes voyeuristic behavior punishable (up to 5 years in jail, up to 15 years if minors are involved) and the law text includes audio recordings as well! Because of the scandal the forum itself has also come under huge scrutiny and the government in Holland is looking for ways to shut it down. I'm not saying this to scare anyone, but I know some members here are also from Belgium and I'm interested on everyone's thoughts concerning this matter.

Regards,

Its illegal in the US too. The loophole is that you can record noise in your own home, because it's yours. But I would bet that if challenged the same laws that govern 'revenge porn' -- sexual materials without the other party's consent -- would probably apply when putting it up online.

What keeps it harmless is that there is no identifying information. So to file a complaint you'd basically have to say 'yeah that's me on that recording screaming fuck me harder'.

Thank you for the reminder!

That is why it is so important for the community to stick to the rules. No hidden recorders, no bugs, no recordings from inside other people's rooms, no identifying talks or pictures, ... If you think we need to enhance our rules, I'm open to suggestions.

Hidden cameras inside rooms where privacy is expected is a no-no.

Did they explicitly mention this forum by name? As far as I know, although we are unique with "audio", there are many general forums with video, audio and pictures.

Pervert landlord installed cameras in tenants’ rooms to watch them have sex

Sunday 12 Aug 2018
A landlord installed cameras in the bedroom and bathroom of a property he rented to make secret videos of his tenants. Paul Dunster, 59, did it to watch people showering and having sex. He was caught with 183 videos of naked women made over a ten year period. ‘It is sad story and one which is disgusting,’ he was told during sentencing. The court heard he did it to ‘satisfy his sexual needs’. Dunster initially denied two charges of voyeurism but later admitted making the secret videos.

Airbnb spy camera shock as Scottish couple find secret device hidden in clock pointing at bed

10 SEP 2018
The owner of an Airbnb room where a couple found a spy camera pointed at their bed has six other properties he lets out.

Scots holidaymaker Dougie Hamilton discovered the video camera hidden in a digital clock in an apartment he and his girlfriend booked in Toronto, Canada.

Dougie immediately got in touch with Airbnb, who pledged to launch an urgent investigation.

Speaking about finding the sinister device, he said: “We were only in the place for 20 minutes when I noticed the clock. We’d had a busy day around the city and finally were able to get to the Airbnb and relax.

“I just happened to be facing this clock and was staring at it for about 10 minutes. There was just something in my head that made me feel a bit uneasy.

I suspect it happens very often at airbnb homes.

When I would find such a camera device, I would ignore it and make sure it would have a clear view when giving my gf a good pounding 8)

It used to be fun to get a girl all flustered and if she said "I never" just look her in the eye and say, "I'm pretty sure you have, and I am completely sure your mother has"

Shuts em right up every time, though you might get slapped!

Unlike me. My mother was a shaker (smile)

its understandable that invading peoples privacy like putting cameras or microphones in their space or room is a big no no. As a sexsoundlover I like how sound waves travel to beyond their personal space. and the way i see it, if we can hear it without getting into their space its fine to record without having any identifiable info. but as for video recordings, i am totally against it. With sex sounds we can image what someone looks like or what position they are doing it in.

I totaly agree with you. Imagination and the sound is all we need - perhaps also the knowledge of how they look like.....and that´s it then. :)
Let your fantasy do the rest ;)
